CISD Summer Research Institute Evaluation

About the CISD SUMMER RESEARCH INSTITUTE EVALUATION (2022-2023)

The Summer Research Institute (SRI) is a 3-5 week long program designed to encourage student voice by engaging high school students in research that addresses questions of equity and social justice in the community. The SRI is offered through a partnership between the Cuba Independent School District (CISD) and the University of Colorado Boulder Research Hub for Youth Organizing . It was first offered in 2021 and then again in 2022 and 2023. The SRI is part of a broader, CISD transformation initiative intended to increase educational equity by addressing racial/cultural tensions and supporting students who have historically been marginalized within the school system. The goals of this evaluation were to support CISD in implementing, improving, and sustaining the SRI by documenting the structure and day-to-day activities of the SRI, the context in which the institute is being implemented, and the successes/challenges in implementation.
